Black+Decker BPT06WTB Portable Air Conditioner Full Review

Today I’m going to review the Black+Decker BPT06WTB portable air conditioner and I’ll try my best to give you a full-fledged review of this portable AC in hopes that you will have all the information you need to decide whether this is or isn’t the right choice for you.

This particular Black+Decker is also known by model number BPACT06WT on some websites, but they are the same model.

General Specs for the Black+Decker BPT06WTB Portable Air Conditioner

This Black+Decker model is known to be very sturdy with solid wheels so you can roll it around. At the same time, if you plan to move it around from one room to another that requires that you climb stairs, this unit is not extremely heavy to lift, so in my opinion, that’s what makes it truly portable. Sometimes, “portable” AC units can be quite heavy which defeats the whole purpose of buying something that is portable, but you won’t have that issue with this unit.

This Black+Decker BPT06WTB or BPACT06WT model comes with a remote control unit, a “follow me” function, which allows the remote to act as a thermostat, a hose, and a window adapter that fits any window regardless of whether it opens horizontally or vertically.

The best feature about this Black+Decker portable AC is that it combines three different energy-efficient functions for all of your cooling and ventilation needs. It has cooling, a fan, and a dehumidifier mode all in one machine. And it is a bucket-less, self-evaporating operation that makes your living space cool, clean, and dry.

The unit is perfect if you are looking for a portable AC unit that is powerful and can quickly cool the space around you. This Black+Decker portable AC unit almost starts cooling the space instantly from the moment you turn it on, and it can very quickly turn a hot summer evening into a cool, delightful, and comfortable one.

Personal Experience with the Black+Decker BPT06WTB

Before I purchased this unit, I did some research and found that many people were complaining about the fact that the hose and window kit don’t attach properly and that they are too flimsy. In my honest opinion, I think the people who are complaining about the hose and window kit being flimsy are not actually attaching it correctly. When you purchase this unit, just be sure to take a minute to read the instructions that come in the box and make sure you straighten the hose completely before you screw it in on either side. Make sure that the hose is properly screwed in and if you do that, you will not have issues with it coming undone.

I have personally been using this Black+Decker portable AC unit for about a week, and I have to say that from all the portable AC units I have tested over the years, this one is extremely powerful and has the ability to quickly make the space feel very comfortable. I use this in an attic space which tends to get quite warm during the day, so it has been nice to be able to walk into a hot room and be able to instantly feel comfortable within a minute after turning on this Black+Decker portable air conditioner.

Easy Delivery and Simple Installation

Unlike some of the other portable air conditioners, this unit is sold and shipped by Amazon, so you don’t have to worry about dealing with a third party. I always like it when the product is sold and shipped by Amazon because I know that if for some reason it doesn’t work out, I can return it without too much of a hassle. The instructions are also quite easy and simple to follow and from the time you get this portable AC out of the box to the time you turn it on and sit back and relax, it should be around 20 minutes or so. It’s very simple to put it together.

There is also a sheet of paper with easy instructions on how to maintain the unit. This is nice to have since you can easily prolong the life of your air conditioner by following simple and easy instructions.

Noise Level

In terms of noise, the unit isn’t noisier than any other portable AC on the market. I will say that this particular Black+Decker portable air conditioner is not as noisy as some of the other portable air conditioners I have reviewed. If you find that you are getting distracted by the noise, you can do what I do and wear some noise-canceling headphones. As I mentioned earlier, I use this unit in the attic upstairs which is converted into an office space, so I usually just throw on some noise-canceling headphones when I’m working, and I can’t hear the noise from the AC.

Self-Evaporating System

What I love most about this unit is that there is no water that leaks out of this portable AC, so you don’t have to worry about emptying the water that collects in it. I think the water is slowly released as mist and that’s just perfect because it’s one less thing to worry about. All you do is plug it into the wall, and adjust the window kit, and voilà! You should be set and all ready to enjoy your space when it goes from feeling like an oven to a nice cool and relaxing space.
